14: Gratitude
Last Sunday I was finishing up All This Could Be Different on the couch next to Eric and in the novel the main character is dealing with a lot of concrete and potential hurdles of living in the US as an immigrant hoping to get sponsored/get a green card. I know it's kinda annoying to constantly name one's privilege(s) - I listen to a lot of podcasts and some of these advice podcasts get really nitty gritty into the hosts' acknowledgment of their own privilege and it almost serves as a virtue signaling exercise. That said, reading novels and sinking into someone else's psyche is a great way to grow your empathy muscle, and this book struck me.
I've truly been so grumpy lately - I've felt annoyed at everything. I think it might be because I've been overworked, or maybe I'm spending too much time comparing myself to others, or god, i don't know, maybe I'm just grumpy. But this past Sunday on the couch I kinda kicked myself out of it! What a miracle!
I made this comic to talk about that, and how no matter what, life is annoying.
I really hope your actual living room has a Free Willy poster on the wall. That’s the best.
The Free Willy and Mona Lisa images crack me up, thanks for the laugh Molly
